The Aldrich® KitAlysis Reaction Block and Screwdriver set allows end-user to run 24 reactions in parallel at elevated temperature without solvent loss or solvent leaching. In conjunction with the KitAlysis Benchtop Inertion Box, oxygen sensitive cross-coupling reactions can be run easily and robustly in a laboratory fume hood.

General Set-Up

Sealing the Plate – screwing down the cover

Sealing the plate properly is critical to success. The key is even pressure, not too tight, with pressure application to the lid of the block to keep the top cover flat while sealing.

  1. Line-up screws making sure that the temperature probe holes line-up with in the base and the lid of the KitAlysis™ 24-Well Reaction Block.
  2. Initially flush: Using your index and middle finger, apply pressure at the center of the lid until it becomes flush with the vials. Then, using the KitAlysis™ Torque Screwdriver, insert screws until flush, but not tight, with the top of the box, following the cross pattern provided below. Check to see that  the lid is evenly sealed onto the base on all sides. Do this visual check as you go to avoid having to unscrew the lid and screw again.
  3. Tighten: Repeat the same pattern until the KitAlysis™ Torque Screwdriver “clicks” indicating complete tightness. Go around the block once more for a final check to ensure all are tight.

For Best Results

  1. Always put use a new KitAlysis24-well Reactor Replacement Film for each new kit (these are provided in all refill kits). Replacement films are not designed to be used more than 1 time.
  2. Due to the manufacturing process, screws may need to be screwed in and out of the block a few times to ensure a smooth seal every time. Perform this step before setting up your first kit.
